Be part of the origin

Be part of the Origins of the Capital

The Summer Series has built it's foundation on the people that want basketball to thrive. Over 140+ kids participated in the competition in 2020, making it the highest participation year in our three year history. We're growing, and we want to continue.

Over the past few years, there's been a growing rivalry between High Schools in Wellington, and it's now at it's peak. We want to help maintain that over the coming years and keep basketball moving to levels that no sport has been before. There is no pathway after High School which can lead to the end of promising young talent. Hard work, early morning trainings and support ends in a flash, with no opportunity or way to get to the next level. We want to give those players the opportunity to bring it right back to where it began. The origins of High School basketball.

In the next few weeks, we will be taking interest from those who are not only out of High School, but have made it to places such as the National Basketball League, or to overseas education facilities to play basketball. We want you to show us what basketball is about. We're planning on something different that'll unite basketballers all around the country. We're looking for 24 ballers who want to show up against the youth of the Capital in what could be the most anticipated game of basketball this year.

What you'll need to do

We're doing our best to not give it away. On Showdown Friday later this year, we will need those 24 ballers to go head-to-head and be part of the Origins of Basketball here in the Capital. You'll need to meet the following requirements:

  • Want to help basketball in the Capital region
  • Have played for a High School in New Zealand before
  • Able to play a game of basketball on a Friday in November

We are opening this up to ballers all over the nation. If you can get to Wellington, you could be able to participate. More information will be made available in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions, feel free to email contact@summerseries.nz and we will do our best to assist you. Registrations will close at a later date. By registering, you are not guarenteed to be part of The Summer Series promotion.
